Pathway Homes, Inc. hosts its 10th Annual Summer of the Arts Exhibit with Vienna Arts Society
Summer of the Arts is an annual Pathway Homes event where individuals served by Pathways who have experienced homelessness and mental health challenges can participate in showcasing and selling their own art, poetry, and crafts. Artists receive 100% of the proceeds.
Pathway Homes is a nonprofit providing mental health services – starting with safe, stable housing – to individuals marginalized by poverty and inequity. Art and creativity are an integral part of recovery for Pathway Homes’ residents.
There are less than 2 weeks left to view these exclusive pieces created by artists with inspirational stories of recovery. All art can also be viewed and purchased via Pathway Homes’ virtual art gallery at sota.pathwayhomes.org until August 30th.
The exhibit honors Karen Free, a Pathway Homes resident and artist who passed away in 2011. Upon Karen’s passing, her mother, Audrey Free, established the Karen Free Art and Recreation Recovery Fund, which helps make the Summer of the Arts exhibit possible. Sadly, Audrey passed away in 2012. Her support toward Pathways was unwavering and her deepest wish was to see the fund grow and give others like her daughter the opportunity to experience joy and healing through art. Karen and Audrey were both remarkable women and valued members of the Pathways family.
