VAS Announces its Artist of the Year for 2025: Acrylic and Multimedia Artist Jodi Condes

The Vienna Arts Society is very pleased to announce that Jodi Condes is Artist of the Year for 2025! This is our organization’s highest honor. Recipients are chosen by the VAS Board, not only for their accomplishments as an artist, but for their contributions to VAS and our community.

A wall of Jodi’s artwork will be featured at the VAS Art Center for two months starting April 7, 2025, and the public will have the opportunity to meet her at our 3rd Thursday reception on April 17, 4-7pm. at the VAS Arts Center located in the Windover Professional Building at 243 Church St. NW., Suite 100LL, in Vienna, VA 22180.

It was at about the time of her retirement that Jodi first picked up a paintbrush, taking a night class at a local high school.  She was quickly drawn to the feeling of putting brush to canvas, and now paints almost every day.  As a relatively new and mostly self-taught painter, she continuously explores media and subject matter, trying to make up for lost time through study and daily practice.  She works primarily in acrylics, but recent explorations into mixed media abstracts have become a new obsession.

As a member of VAS, she deeply enjoys the camaraderie of like-minded fellow artists, and enjoys connecting with her community through many of the outreach programs that are key to the VAS mission.  During the approximately 8 years Jodi has been a member of VAS, she served as Vice President for 4 years, and has now been our Treasurer for the past three years.  She is also the grants writer for our organization, and has brought in valuable grant funding for the past 5 years.

She regularly exhibits and sells her work at shows throughout Northern Virginia and beyond.  She has been accepted into many juried shows, and a number of her pieces have been awarded prizes and honorable mentions, including her 1st prize award at VAS’s recent Green Spring Gardens show. Her work resides in private collections in Virginia, Italy, Colorado, California, South Carolina, Maryland, and Pennsylvania.
