Take a Seat, Vienna!
Hand-Painted Benches Celebrate Vienna Arts Society’s 50th Anniversary
The Vienna Arts Society (VAS) will be presenting an exciting, new public art display, “Take A Seat,Vienna” throughout the Town of Vienna beginning in April and continuing through October 2019. The project engages a diverse group of Vienna businesses and community sponsors in our community for the forty-two artists’ benches. Each bench has been painted with a unique, original artwork by a VAS member artist who has donated their time, expertise, and materials to this project.
The painted benches are placed at the sponsor locations throughout the Town of Vienna to celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Vienna Arts Society. Mayor Laurie DiRocco enthusiastically recognized these hand-painted benches, they “represent a unique opportunity to add charm to our town and bring together community residents and families as well as persons from neighboring areas.” Complimentary events are planned, according to Hayden Luczka, President of VAS, “to enhance interest in art, and include the public in special events, a scavenger hunt, other sponsor-specific opportunities, and VAS activities designed to engage the community.”
Following the public art display, a community auction will take place. Scheduled for November 2 at the Vienna Community Center the ViennaArts Society, is sponsoring the fundraiser for the organization. The auction promises to be an exciting Vienna event, with professional auctioneers, and refreshments, to make the evening interesting and entertaining.
“Take A Seat, Vienna” posters are distributed throughout the Town of Vienna and a brochure featuring photos of all of the benches with their locations is available.
