ARTIST’S STATEMENT: Preserving Tropical Treasures
I have always been inspired by all kinds of birds. Birds make me smile and fill me with wonder. Their colors, whimsical movements and feats of grandeur fill me with awe. Birds make my heart sing!
My other subjects have ranged from non-objective designs, landscapes, people, to flora and fauna with exotic birds and flowers. The media of watercolor allows me to show the beautiful transparencies, textures, and the luxuriant color that one might see in a cloud or a rain forest. I hold the hope that my paintings aid in focusing on what would be lost because of the shrinking forests of the world and the unique creatures that live within these forests. I strive to show my interpretations of what I see and feel as I view these tropical treasures and the treasures in our native world.
Ruth is a member of the Potomac Valley Watercolorists, the Springfield Art Guild, the Vienna Arts Society and Art a la Carte Gallery in Occoquan, VA.
