The Vienna Arts Society was honored to feature Ellen Crosby, author of the Sophie Medina mysteries, at their ART & BOOKS 3rd Thursday open house on July 18. Her books have been nominated for the Mary Higgins Clark Award and the Library of Virginia People’s Choice Award. THE FRENCH PARADOX was chosen as one of The Strand Magazine’s Top 20 Mysteries of 2021. Before turning to writing fiction, Ellen worked for many years as a freelance journalist for the Washington Post and other publications. She was Moscow correspondent for ABC Radio News and an economist at the U.S. Senate.
Crosby’s latest work is DODGE & BURN, the 4th Sophie Medina mystery.
After describing the arc of her career and her writing journey from Moscow to Virginia’s wine country, Ellen signed her latest books for an enthusiastic crowd at the art center. Jennifer Morrow, Vienna’s own indie bookstore owner of Bards Alley, also joined us with her staff to share the latest news from the world of indie bookstores. Jennifer brought along a huge selections of Ellen’s books, as well as a selection of books on art and other topics. The crowd enjoyed a sip and a bite while mingling with Ellen, Jennifer, our artists and the Bards Alley staff at the Vienna Art Center in the Windover Professional Building at 243 Church St NW, Suite 100LL, tel 703-319-3971.
Every 3rd Thursday, the Vienna Arts Society welcomes the public from 4-7 pm for an evening of art, wine and refreshments, conversation and an all-around good time.
