Jihee Kang is originally from South Korea. Kang works predominantly in painting and her work crosses various media within art including drawing, installation, sculpture, and printmaking. Kang’s work can possibly be categorized as surreal drawings, and sculptures that often deal with irrational juxtapositions of images from plant, nature, and man-made objects such as Big machines. Kang completed the MFA program at American University. She received her BFA from Corcoran school of Art and Design in Washington DC where she lives and works. Kang completed a post-graduate residency at the Torpedo Factory in Alexandria, VA in 2017. She has been the recipient of International Prize “Marche d’ Acqua” Fabriano Watercolor 2012, Museo della Carta e della filigrana, Fabriano, Italy.
