VAS is so lucky to be hosting award-winning Liang Wei at our next membership meeting on June 12th at 7:00 in the VAS Art Center.
Liang Wei has been a resident artist at the Torpedo Factory since 2001. His work has been exhibited in museums and galleries in New York, Connecticut, Maryland, Virginia and Washington D.C. His numerous awards include the Torpedo Factory Artist of the Year and First Place Watercolor for Best of Virginia Artists and Artisans. He also won Outstanding and Honorable mention awards at the First and Second Overseas Chinese Painting and Calligraphy Exhibitions held in Beijing, China.
The painting here was a winning entry at our own Green Spring Gardens Show in March.
Liang’s Wei’s calligraphy has adorned the jacket designs of books such as “The Search for Modern China” and “Chinese Roundabout” by Yale Historian Jonathan Spence and “Furrows” by Yale anthropologist Helen Siu.
