Catching Eyes with Watercolor and Glass with Carole Choucair Oueijan

October 6 – 9, or 4 days of creativity

Space limited! Click here for more details and to register.

Learn two different media to create amazing mosaic eyes using watercolor paint then translate it into mosaic. We work in “smalti” and other glass tesserae using the Byzantine Indirect Technique.  Start our project with a quick drawing of the eyes and then begin learning about watercolor. Even if you have never painted, this exercise will be very helpful for future projects. Come with an open mind and enjoy this process.  You will mosaic your “eye” in the Byzantine Indirect Technique using smalti and glass with honey paste as a temporary adhesive. On the last workshop day we “cast” the reverse mosaic.

Carole Choucair Oueijan, a fine artist whose work in mosaic, watercolor, oil painting and mixed media, has won international honors. Most recently she was awarded Best Site Specific Work, Mosaic Arts International, for her magnificent “Temple City Today” installation. Five large panels were created in the Indirect Byzantine Technique, which began with a watercolor painting. To learn more about Carole visit her website.
